Well, maybe. Sometimes olive oil isn’t any healthier than canola or other oils because the factors that make it superior are missing. How can you ensure your olive oil is doing what it should to keep your arteries clear, blood pressure and cholesterol low, and reduce your risk of cancer?
· Freshest is best. Look for a label that sports a harvest date no older than one year past;
· Make sure the label says “extra virgin.” “Cold press,” a chemical-free process, and “first press” make it even better;
· Store it in a dark and cool place, such as a well-ventilated pantry or closed cupboard away from oven heat. A green-colored bottle is more important than green-colored oil.
